56 Countries Join Global
Entrepreneurship Week
A first-ever
worldwide entrepreneurship event that is expected to involve millions of
young people is taking shape. Fifty-six countries have currently signed
on to support and initiate activities for Global Entrepreneurship Week,
Nov. 17-23, 2008. This inaugural Week will engage young people around
the world to encourage them to pursue entrepreneurial ideas and
opportunities through activities with the support of entrepreneurs,
government officials, non-profit leaders and educators.

Summary report details recommendations for economic growth, renewable energy in Houston area
PEARLAND, TX -- Community leaders in the
Houston metropolitan area developed a series of recommended action items
for economic growth at a summit led by
Congressman Nick Lampson and co-chaired by twelve local mayors.
The recommendations addressed four primary areas: education, entrepreneurship, renewable energy and smart growth.

LONDON -- British Prime Minister Gordon
Brown joined Carl Schramm of the Kauffman Foundation in starting the
countdown to Global Entrepreneurship Week, the world's biggest single
event celebrating and promoting entrepreneurship amongst young people.
From November 17-23, 2008, millions around the world will join a growing
movement of young people generating new ideas and seeking better ways of
doing things. The Public Forum Institute is coordinating the global
effort jointly with the UK's Make Your Mark campaign. It is exclusively
coordinating the US initiative under a grant from the Kauffman
Foundation. This follows on the heels of a successful EntrepreneurshipWeek USA from earlier this year.

13 Planning Summit
Economic renaissance in Fort
Worth
FORT WORTH, TX -- For the third
consecutive year, the issue of economic growth and revitalization of a
collection of communities in and around Fort Worth was the topic of
discussion at a summit chaired by Congressman Michael Burgess.
Synthesizing all of the numerous recommendations at the summit,
participants expressed consensus to pursue actions for economic revival
that address multiple problems in education, employment, and economic
development simultaneously. Presentations and discussions centered
around three themes: Transportation and Urban Villages, Workforce
Development through Business and Education, and Comprehensive Economic
Development.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- Congresswoman
Kirsten Gillibrand led a summit on economic growth for upstate New York.
Held as part of the Public Forum Institute's National Dialogue on
Entrepreneurship, the summit attracted nearly 200 participants. The
highest priority recommendation focused on the need to move innovative
ideas from research labs to the marketplace -- "Establish a channel for
linking the end users (market) to the suppliers (technologists) to
stimulate innovation."

JUPITER, FL -- It was only natural for the
"Sunshine State" to be the backdrop for a summit on alternative energy.
Congressman Tim Mahoney chaired the summit held by the Public Forum
Institute to explore the future of sustainable energy Florida. The
summit attracted a standing-room only crowd of more than 220
participants.

STOCKTON, CA -- The promise of job growth
coming from new energy technologies took center stage at a regional
economic summit chaired by Congressman Jerry McNerney. Held at the
University of the Pacific, more than 175 community leaders and
interested citizens shared information and ideas about how to create a
sustainable job center for the Northern San Joaquin Valley.

Summit brings together African
American leaders
WASHINGTON, DC -- The Public Forum
Institute wrapped up another successful African American Leadership
Summit in Washington DC. More than 300 African American leaders from 37
states attended the Summit to discuss address critical policy issues
such as education, health care and economic development with members of
the United States Congress and the Bush Administration.
