The Northeast Wisconsin Economic Summit: Building a Better Future
Congressman Steve Kagen, Honorary Summit Chair
Appleton, Wisconsin                                                                               Radisson Paper Valley Hotel
August 29, 2007

Undoubtedly one of its best assets, the spirit of hard work and community can be found in abundance throughout the New North, a region that has gained national recognition for its progressive approach toward new business development and entrepreneurship. By working together, the community of Northeast Wisconsin has benefited from one another’s success, helping to make the quality of life in the region what it is today – the best place in America to work, live and play. Now, more than ever before, government and business entities must begin to work more closely together to ensure the next generation reached its full potential. It is the job of government to listen to the people.

Congressman Steve Kagen will lead a collaborative economic summit to be held on August 29 in Appleton . The Northeast Wisconsin Economic Summit: Building a Better Future will bring together representatives from business, education, labor, local government, the media, interested citizens and other community leaders to examine how government can positively impact Northeast Wisconsin.

Specifically, The Northeast Wisconsin Economic Summit will explore how governments – at all levels – can assist small businesses in the New North. The summit will also address essential questions, including: how may government services can be improved? What are the three most important things the Northeast Wisconsin community wants government to do for you? And what are three things you do not want government to do?

The format of the summit will combine presentations by experts, panel sessions, and an interactive technology called eFORUM designed to collect instant feedback from summit participants and identify action steps and plans.

The summit will be coordinated by the Public Forum Institute, an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization that has considerable experience with similar efforts.  For further information contact Brenden Chaney at 202-467-2778 or at Brenden@pfidc.org or visit www.publicforuminstitute.org
