June 3, 2005
Fort Worth, Texas

Workshop Descriptions

  • Michael Cady, Dean of Continuing Education and Economic Development, Tarrant County Community College, South Campus

  • Daphne Barlow, Boys and Girls Club

  • Dr. Sue Guthrie, Assistant Superintendent over Secondary Schools, Fort Worth Independent School District

East and southeast Fort Worth faces a simultaneous increase in the number of elderly and youth in the area. As the demographics – and economic focal points – of the area shift, improving all levels and all facets of education and workforce development systems will be an important step in addressing short-term challenges while preparing for long-term success. The summit will examine approaches to strengthening educational achievement of local students while removing barriers to employment for an aging labor force.
