On
July 10, 2002, Senators John F. Kerry (D-MA) and Christopher S.
Bond (R-MO) co-chaired a gathering in Washington, DC to showcase
small businesses and their homeland security products. More
than 1,000 attendees passed through the expo, held in the
Dirksen Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill.
In
addition to Senators Kerry and Bond, several administration
officials attended the expo and delivered remarks, including:
-
Tom
Ridge, Director, Office of Homeland Security
-
Hector
Barreto, Administrator, U.S. Small Business Administration
-
Michael
Wynne, Deputy Under Secretary for
Acquisition & Technology, Department of Defense
While
slightly more than 50 companies participated
in the expo, more than 200 small businesses who were sponsored
by members of Congress for inclusion are highlighted in a directory
that was distributed at the expo.
